on the whole Muppet issue, I should also point out that.
- When I was five, I dressed up as Fozzie Bear for Halloween

Who is your favorite Muppet? Why?
QotD submitted by knitwitology.vox.com.
Oh crap... since my question was picked, I suppose I should answer it as well huh?
The Muppet Show was a family event for us. We'd all sit down as the curtains rose and that deep sax bleeted out those first bounding notes. At an early age I understood the concept of puppetry and marionettes, but those first full suited creatures lurching onto the screen always shocked me. The stand-out performer at that time? - the oafish, and decidedly intimidating Sweetums.
This wasn't your Sesame Street innocent like Big Bird. Sweetums was meant to scare. Though it wasn't until his turn as "Jack" in The Muppet Movie that his true nature as a misunderstood do-gooder fnally shone through.
Sweetums is the ultimate portrayal that you can't judge a
book by it's cover and a lesson I understood from an early age.
I think everyone from my generation has a favorite Muppet. It's a common touch-stone that spans cultures. I also tend to believe you can tell a lot about the person by whom they choose. I believe this to such a point that it's a question I'll invarivbly bring up within the first few conversations I have with anyone (and once polled my entire high school class on for an article in the school paper).
So once you're done with your answer, I'd encourage you to look around at the other responses... maybe you'll learn a deeper truth to your friends and neighbors.
(I'll also hold I kind place in my memmory for Beauregard)
